Call for for an ambitious European Social Fund – 05/03/2025

More than 65 pan-European associations, including EFFE, and 200 national organizations have called in an open letter to European leaders on March 5 for an ambitious European Social Fund to uphold commitments.

They warn that initial budget discussions suggest potential cuts to key social investment programs. Merging funding mechanisms could significantly weaken support for labor market integration, training, and social inclusion.

A strong EU budget and an autonomous Social Fund are crucial to reducing inequalities, fostering social innovation, and enhancing Europe’s global competitiveness. The EU has committed to lifting 15 million people, including 5 million children, out of poverty by 2030.
